Afternoon all,

Sorry if this has been asked before i couldn't find an answer. I paid off my phone several years ago and currently on a pay monthly contract since may 2022, now I'm thinking it's time for a new phone and found some good o2 deals on mobilephonesdirect.co.uk. if i go for one of these new contracts will i be changed the remainder of my current sim only contract or does o2 switch over and keep the same number? Cheers and thanks for your help

*edit

Reading through some other posts it seems i would need to call 202 to transfer over the number, but my main concern is will o2 charge me for the remaining months on my current contract

Unfortunately not, you would have to pay the remainder of your current contract

Personally, I would wait until nearer your contract renewal

Third party deals will always be available and always 50% better deals available

Unless the saving over the next 12 months exceeds your current contract then it isn't worth switching yet

Better deals are available at 3rd party retailers

You would have to pay off any remaining charghes but it sounds like you are on a monthly recurring contract in which case fees would be a maximum one month charge

Simply call customer service to migrate your number to any new contract

I would be interested in which deals are beating your current sim only plan. One of O2's cheapest is £15/month and includes Apple music and Disney+ for 6 months. Uness you only need like 2 or 6 GB data (which three offers probably the best deal) I cannot compete with O2 at the moment. Plus with sim only you can keep 'upgrading' so my £15/month remains that always no matter what phone I have.

@Amg63 I'm on 30GB for £8. And as a Volt customer get double data, so 60GB.

Can't remember whether it was U-SWITCH or Money Supermarket I went through.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Definitely USwitch as I'm on the same deal

Add the LOYALTY discount it comes in at £6.40/month

So.. if you're on a sim only pay monthly you should be able to 'upgrade' anytime. Just upgrade to a 30 day contract and then you can leave at the end of the month!
