Switching between contracts

My O2 contract ends on 15th February 2020.  I intend to buy a new phone from mobilephonesdirect.co.uk but I want to stay with O2.  Do I need to obtain a PAC code from O2 to switch from one contract to another and do I need to give O2 notice that I want to end my original contract?  I have been trying to get information on live chat but I keep getting cut off and am losing my patience.  Thank you in advance.

You'll get a final bill when you migrate your number so anytime now is OK as you will be billed until the 15th Feb anyway.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Get your new contract then call customer service on 202 and ask them to migrate your old number to new account.

This will end your old account so no notice is required and no need for a PAC.

@JulieH6 You'll need to speak to customer service to ask them to migrate your number. You don't need a PAC. Call 202 from your mobile. Best time to call is 8-8.30 am. Live Chat is generally useless.

Thank you for your quick response.  Just one more question - do I have to wait until 15th February to do this or can I do it as soon as I get my new phone?
