Switch up but not original phone

First time I’ve been wondering about this. I’m due to switch up on 12th June. If I decide to switch up then I might hit a problem. I had a fault with my original phone and Apple replaced the phone in their Genius Bar. However if I switch up the IMEI is going to be different even tho it’s technically the same phone spec. What happens there?

cheers

you provide a device with an IMEI code that does not match the device that was provided by us at the start of the existing contract, except for devices that may have been replaced under a valid insurance plan or warranty which no longer have the same IMEI code as the original device.

When you go in store to do this ( and I would recommend doing this rather than online) then take the Apple proof with you, just so they can see and verify it.
