Swap from Virgin to O2

I'm trying to swap my number from Virgin to O2. My Virgin SIM hasn't been used for a while and I think the SIM has been deactivated.

To do the SIM swap, I think I need to get a code sent to my Virgin SIM, but can't do that if it has no service. 

I have an O2 SIM and my phone number shows when I login to my O2 account. 

Neither my O2 SIM or Virgin SIM will connect to a network.

What do I do?

There are no numbers left on Virgin they have all been migrated to o2.  

How do you / did you pay for your Virgin Sim, as if PAYG that was closed down a long time ago, and is irrecoverable. If Pay Monthly, you need a new sim from o2 and then call them to do the sim swap.

Where did the new sim card come from?
