Staying with O2 but getting a new phone from another provider. Can I keep my number?

Hi, Not sure if this has been asked before, but I am looking to get a new phone, but not from O2. I can get a deal cheaper elsewhere. I want to stay on the O2 network as I am happy with the coverage etc. 

Can I get a new phone from somewhere else, but still keep my number? Do you need a PAC code as I thought they were from transferring from another network?

No PAC necessary @Johnnys149 

Once you have the new contract ask O2 to migrate your number to the new contract

That will end your old contract
