Is it worth getting monthly o2 sim online instead of from o2 app, they seem to be nearly half the price.

They are free for PAYG from O2. And the EXTRA data offer, if any, is more likely to work if you get your SIM from O2 than from any other outlet  https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/sim-cards/pay-as-you-go

O2 Pay monthly SIMs come with a contract, with O2 - some 3rd party sellers offer incentives to make that work out cheaper, but usually only if you get a new handset as well.
