Do I have to leave O2 after many years, when for Sim Only, Giffgaff (who I believe use O2) charge £10pm for 6GB, whereas O2 want £13pm?

As the country is in such a state then you have to do whatever you can to get the best deal to suit you. If that means looking at MVNO's then go for it because getting through to O2 customer service is like trying to raise the dead.
