Sharer SIM for existing iPad

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi

I've been to a very unhelpful store, been bounced around 5 people on chat, and had a very unsuccessful call to CS. I'm trying to establish how to do the following, which the Sharer pages seem to imply can be done.

I have just upgraded to an iPhone 6s Plus on Refresh. With this I have 30GB data and it arrive 25/09.

I currently have an unlocked iPad, which is using a THREE SIM currently.

I would like to know what I need to do/ask for to get an O2 SIM for my iPad that allows me to share my 30GB data.

I wouldn't have thought this wasn't that hard a question to answer, however recent experience leads me to believe that asking for next weeks winning lotto numbers would be easier.

Thanks.

Sounds poor mate.
As long as your iPhone is set up as a lead device in your My O2 you can add any other new contract device to your plan easily.
You can do it all yourself in your My O2 when your new phone arrives.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

You can only add new connections to a share plan.
So, if your ipad is out of contract with O2 call 0330 8800 908 to arrange a new contract for it and add it to your new iPhone plan.
You will probably not be able to do this tho until you get your new iPhone and your tariff is live.

Thanks

My iPad was never in-contract with O2. It was purchased direct from Apple.

Not a problem but you will need to take a sim only contract with O2 for it to share data.
I think it starts at £7.50 a month but CS will confirm that when you call in to set it up.

OK thanks, because when I just rang and discussed it with them they said I had to have a SIM contract and an iPad contract. As in I couldn't do it with my own iPad device.

So you are saying if I buy the cheapest pay-montly SIM, I can add it to my contract as a sharer, when my contract is active?

Yes, as long as it is a pay monthly contract sim of some sort you can add the device to your sharer plan.
Have you seen the O2 help page and FAQ's here ?

OK thanks.

Yes I have seen that page. I also visited a store, and called that number, and had an online chat. The store didn't have a clue what I was on about. The chats culminated in conversations about tethering and SIM-only deals that only had their own data (not shared), and the phonecall ended with me being told I had to have an iPad purchased from O2.

So rather unsuccessful really.
