Severe signal degredation! Emergency calls only!

Anonymous
Not applicable

Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed a severe degredation in the signal quality in Carnoustie, Angus.

Since moving here in July last year I have consistently had a full signal and constant Edge internet connection, sadly this has changed to two bars max and frequently no signal at all!  I have missed many calls due to people not being able to get through, sending texts is slow and these often don't send.

I can confirm I have tried another network's SIM, this gives me full signal and consistent 3G internet so it cannot be my phone. When I take my phone into Dundee I get a full signal.  I have checked your service status often and there is never anything mentioned. Nothing has changed in my household to indicate anything interfering with my signal.  I have cleaned my SIM, all of this to no avail.  I can only conclude that the issue lies with the Mast(s) here.

The coverage checker claims the following:

"Making calls, sending texts, using email on your phone.

Good indoors and outdoors."

I understand this can vary, but surely not to this extent. My phone is useless currently.

Put in your full postcode to get a more informed update.

If it's showing fine then download the MY NETWORK app and use that to report the mast.

Ask neighbours who are on O2 if they are having issues and if so get them to report the masts too.

Ah thank you for that.  For some reason I can't find that information online when I put my postcode in, strange.

Ah well, at least I know now.   It's been like this for a while though, how long do these things take roughly?

Hello

Welcome to the forums.

If you have home wifi you can try using the TuGo app (if you have an android or iPhone handset).  It allows you to make and receive calls via your home wifi.  Its a free service provided by O2 for people who can't get a great signal at home.

Apart from that, O2 don't give timescales for resolution of issues, but do work on them as fast as possible.

To note ; Tugo is currently only available to contract customers and not payg customers.
