Hello everyone. I took out an O2 sim only contract this morning in my local store. I'm porting my number (from T-Mobile) and understand the changeover will be on Tuesday. I'm currently using another phone with my T-Mobile sim in and am going to start anew with my brand new phone and O2 sim when my number has ported. My question is do I wait, leave my new phone alone until the service dies on my old one or can I set it up now with email, apps, tasks, etc. I know I won't be able to use it yet but does it make a difference if I try setting it up without a sim card in? Sorry I know this is a very basic question but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Also I received a textfrom O2 confirming I will be set up on 13/01/15 and "please switch off your phone on the port date until 6pm" - does this mean I have to switch off my old phone that day and all day? The advisor I saw in store told me to keep it on until the T-Mobile service/signal dies then put my O2 sim card in my new phone.
Again, thanks for any help.

It all went very smoothly: my old phone/service "died" so I put my O2 sim in the new one (Galaxy S3 Neo by the way) and switched it on and the transfer was immediate. O2 sent me the settings straightaway and the whole thing only took a few minutes so I am very happy :smileyhappy::smileyhappy:
Pleased for you. Enjoy your new phone...
