Sending a text message from abroad

Hi I'm currently on a Pay Monthly contract with unlimited text messages. I am travelling to Italy on Wednesday and I have found out details about the cost of data usage and phone calls while abroad, but it's not clear how much it will cost me to send/receive text messages while abroad - can anyone shed any light on this? I already have the o2 travel bolt on.

The way i understand it, you will be charged about 8pence to recieve txts but its free for you to send them.

When i was in Barcelona a few years ago and when my wife was in France last year we didn't get charged for any txts we sent to each other. We both have the O2 Travel bolt on. Can anyone confirm if indeed all texts are 100% free, i.e just come out of your allowance and the charges would only apply once your allowance is used up ?

if u down load vider as long as u are near wifi or broad band it will not cost u any thing as i use this to keep in contact with my son who is in china and tell your friends to get it two
