Selling/buying contract phone?

Hi if I buy/sell a contract iphone can the imei be barred for non payment?

I don't want to buy a phone that gets blocked because the seller hasn't paid their bill!

Just want to clarify what I mean by Refresh handsets getting barred.

The reason why a handset taken on the refresh plan is IMEI barred is because the handset is bought on a credit agreement, if the credit agreement is not paid, the handset is still O2's property, hence O2 are well within their rights to bar it.

It is also stated in the Terms and Conditions, I do not have them with me right now, as surprisingly I am off to workjust now. But I will post the relevant T&C when I have them to hand.

Regards,

What am I expected to do then, upload a copy of my contract of employment so that I don't get called a liar?

That requirement is not mentioned in the Community's Terms & Conditions.

And I wouldn't call anybody a liar as that may result in a ban.......that's in the Terms & Conditions also.

This thread is way off topic which Mods and Admin won't take kindly to, so this will be my final comment.

You stated :

"I have worked and am still working for O2 customer service for the past 12 years and I am commenting with my own experience."

without having the declaration in your signature. All other O2 employees use the signature statement as required by O2.

But by blocking the imei it means o2 have no further right to chase payment for the device as the supplier has electronically rendered the device as unfit for purpose.

So o2 block your, say, half paid off phone, you've had money issues and whatever...
You then get a letter demanding full payment for phone.
But phone is now non functioning, non saleable.
Do o2 unblock the imei on payment?

If O2 receive payment they will unblock the handset.
