Second sim and weird credit check failure

I got an O2 sim contract last week. Everything nice and smooth.

Once the sim arrived, the app proposed an offer to me for a second sim which was very cheap (8 pounds a month). So I decided to get a second one for my tablet.

The first request and a few following all failed.

My credit status is excellent so it can't be that.

Most likely it must be something around a second sim before I am out of cooling off period or something.

Any ideas what it is and how long I need to wait to resolve?

I saw a few others having the same problem with this offer

Two credit checks close together will always fail with O2.

You should wait at least a month before trying again.

Thank you.

I was advised by O2 customer services that I would be able to order the additional sim after I've paid my first bill, which I have and yet it failed again.

It very frustrating that it is a common problem and yet 02 sales and customer services are oblivious to this.

Do you also happen to know if this subsequent credit checks would also reset the "1 month"?

I.e. is it one month after I got the sim or the last failed attempt?

It would be the last failed attempt. Anything earlier than that would still be on your record and may affect any other checks.

I have tried waiting for 1 month and retried. It failed again. This is very frustrating, especially as O2 keeps sending me second sim deals.

I have raised a complaint with then and waiting to see what they come back with.

Any other ideas how to approach?
