I have been subject of a scam while using Internet a pop up subscribed me to pay 3.75gbp per week. I did not even know I had been entrapped. The pop-up just was a text number 66299 when I enquired re special charge on my o2 bill I was given a no to phone I unsubscribed but charge still came through today. I phoned o2 support who told me they have written to 66299 and cancelled any future charges.Has anyone else been entrapped in this way ? Message back from 66299 was they had put me into a weekly prize competition

Sorry but whoever told you that load of tosh is just getting rid of you to move onto the next call. I would expect that of some live chat advisers but my God, that is an outrageous claim from someone answering the phone. I wonder if they were at all mbarrassed by spinning you that line?

Yeah, that'll never happen.

@Anonymous you need to contact the company charging you and cancel it yourself - I'd also ask for a refund of charges too.

Yes, unfortunately this is down to the user and isn't the responsibility of O2 who merely pass on the charges billed to your account by this company. However, contacting the company directly normally solves the issue straightaway.
