SMSs to Russia not being received?

I've tried messaging a friend in Russia in preparation for going over there in a couple of weeks but none of them are being received? She has messaged me on the same number and I can receive messages from her. Any thoughts as to what's going on?

They will want their Pound of Flesh for using your phone abroad and in the Uk.

It won't be long before all roaming charges are abolished completely, but expect to see tariff prices in UK rise to compensate for lack of roaming revenue though....

That's the way of things, the networks will get the money by any means possible. Higher UK rates are inevitable if roaming charges are abolished.

So an update now I've been over there

The issue is definitely an agreement between providers. Whilst connected to Megafon in Russia my messages were still not received.

Calls weren't an issue and worked fine.

The only issue I had was that my phone didn't automatically switch networks. I had to get a list of networks and switch manually when I arrived.
