SMSs to Russia not being received?

I've tried messaging a friend in Russia in preparation for going over there in a couple of weeks but none of them are being received? She has messaged me on the same number and I can receive messages from her. Any thoughts as to what's going on?

Has the number been accidentally added to a blocked list in the handset.

As far as I'm aware I have nothing that blocks numbers, although I'd assume that would block me receiving messages as well.

Not necessarily.

Phones that have blocking facilities have one that blocks texts and one that blocks calls.

I know but I don't have anything that blocks texts or calls installed and as far as I'm aware the stock Android 4.4 SMS app has no facility for blocking. As I say, I can receive messages from my friend. If it were blocking them I wouldn't receive them or the blocking would be pointless.

Which phone does you and your friend use ?

It is easy to accidentally add your number to a blocking list.

There's also the possibly of the network having issues too.
