SMS Max 160 characters ?

Anonymous

Do others get charged 35p for MMS when your text exceeds 160 characters. No smiley or attachments. Every text converts to MMS over this level and sends and charges if there is balance available or wont send if there is not. Best answer I have had from on-line help is to check my phone setting but no idea which ones other than GSM alphabet. Arghhhh.

You need input mode set to automatic and set the warning on under MMS settings for when the phone converts.

depends on the phone. Its not down to the network. I can send long texts and my phone sends them as multiple sms. Samsung is bad for swapping to MMS.

No, you should be allowed 480 characters before it changes to MMS.
What input methods do you have in settings ?

Usually depends on the phone. Most phones convert after character count reaches 480. What phone do you have and we can talk you through the settings.
