SMS - 30 Character Limit

Hi, I'm a little confused with the character limit on SMSs. I'm only able to send SMSs with only 30 characters, anything more and it just won't send, and gives a "Couldn't send message" error.

I have tried with different phones and tried changing some relevant settings etc., but nothing seems to make the SMSs work with the usual 160 character limit.

Has anyone on this community had this or similar issue? If so, any steps to resolve would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

I am experiencing the same issue with the 30 character limit. Did you manage to find a resolution for this?

I'll tag @KFM for you @Amelia88. It's 5 months since this thread was started.

First thing to try would be going  instore with Photo ID and get a new sim for your phone.

I am not sure that you are going to hear from @KFM. He/she joined this forum on ‎**Personal info**24, but has not logged in since ‎**Personal info**24.

I would suggest that you start a new conversation, maybe cross-referencing this thread, and describe your issue in detail. On this forum, reopening old threads does not tend to be the best way to achieve resolution. 👍

That's because we've already given all we know or can suggest.

New threads will only give the same answers so are pointless.... a bit like your post above.

The whole point of having a search function is to find previous threads with solutions or suggestions.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

Hi @Cleoriff @Amelia88 @Darren8658 , thought I'd responded back then, but I probably didn't (or something went wrong somewhere).

Anyway, when I did get a new SIM from O2 in the hopes of getting this issue fixed, it didn't fix it straightaway.

But, just as I was about to lose hope and give up, it started working i.e., I was able to send messages over 30 characters after a few days of using the new SIM (around 4-5 days after starting to use it).

Not sure how it was fixed, as I didn't do anything much after getting the new SIM - it just seems to have resolved itself.

So, might be worth a try getting a new SIM, start to use it for a few days, and the issue might just go away for you too.

Good to hear. No idea why it took so long either but pleased the new sim worked eventually. 😂
