My partner is in Guinea and his data is not working. His phone is showing as having 3G but not working. He has tried changing the apn, turning off 4G, choosing the carrier manually and restarting. None of these options have worked. Any suggestions gratefully received! Thanks

Hi @Dibby

Has he got an iphone?

If so he may need to change his apn to "mobile.o2.co.uk"

Is everything else working, such as calls and texts?

If not, he may have a roaming bar on his account, so would need to contact customer services to have it removed https://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

If calls and texts are working, then it's a network or phone issue.

@Dibby  Guinea doesn't appear to be included in countries covered by O2 Travel, according to this link: https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/international/using-phone-abroad

Is PAYG or contract and if PAYG is there enough credit?

@Dibby  According to the above link it would cost your partner £168 for 250mb of data for a month's use, and £2.00 per minute to make or receive a call, and 50p to send a text. I would suggest telling him to either get a local sim, if one is available, or use WhatsApp or Messenger over WiFi where he can find it, unless he has money to burn.

Hi. He has tried resetting the apn but that hasn’t worked unfortunately. Calls and texts do work though. He got a welcome to Guinea text saying that he has a bolt on for calls, texts and data.

Guinea is listed in the Travel Inclusive Bolt On countries and his welcome message on arrival in the country said that he has a bolt on for £4.99 a day...

Then he should be calling customer services on the link I gave above.

That isn't Travel Inclusive though, that's O2 Travel.

Either way, if his data isn't working he should give customer services a call.
