Solved: Replacement Phone but...

I had my phone sent for a warranty repair and it was returned today along with a letter saying it was a replacement phone with a different IMEI but the phone still had the security ring I had stuck to the back of the phone that is close to impossible to remove without breaking the ring.

The phone is a sealed unit so how can a replacement phone have my original stuck on ring still on it?

Sounds like they replaced the motherboard into your old phone case - has the problem been fixed?

Hi, yes. The original problem was a software fault and it wouldn't boot. This one does turn on.

The IMEI is different and the ding in the volume button I made when I dropped it a few months ago is gone.

Great service, I only took it into the o2 store last Saturday.

They may have just swapped your rear case thinking you wouldn't want to loose the ring.

Just another thought - if you have insurance, tell them about the new IMEI number.
