Repeated spam text messages

I am not sure if someone has sold my number on or if someone has genuinely put the wrong number in somewhere but I am being hounded by texts for 'Allen' about loans and other products. I have forwarded them all to 7726 and sent the number they have come from. Is there any other way to stop them?
Cheers!

If Your phone has a blocking facility for calls and texts and the numbers coming from spam calls are not coming up as unknown then add them to your blocking list.

Blocking them on the phone if it's possible is an easy way to deal with it

Or changing your number with O2 which is free for the first time.

A bit drastic but an option.

Although nothing guarantees they won't get hold of a new number in time. 😞

What I do is use the in-built blocking features in Android to deter private numbers which may be a bit incovenient sometimes however unless I call someone, there is no reason I would want a call-center contacting me. By responding to such messages you are only confirming your existence.

My current SIM (touch wood) doesn't seem to be receiving much of this sort of thing. Not that I recall, although I do have missed caller notificatiion enabled which is kind of handy in some cases as it reveals the real contact number of the PPI/Accidental Injury Claims etc.

I'm on Pay Monthly so I don't know if that makes a difference, however I suspect not.

There's a few apps on the market for stopping these although I found Comodo Mobile Security to be the most effective for this sort of thing.

Unfortunately it seems my Sony Xperia Z1 has no option to block messages. I have decided the best thing to do is to just delete them without opening as they come along. Sending them to O2 and ICO hasn't done much to deter them as they are just changing number. I guess they will eventually stop... If not the option to change number might be the only way to get rid of the problem. Cheers

Try this then....https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.comodo.pimsecure

It does a bit more than just SMS blocking however doesn't need root to work and has keyword blocking as well. I used this and found this very sucessful. Comodo is probably one of the companies you could trust as well.
