& id like to add I’m 32 years old & have never owned any of these forms of I’d asked for.I pay 4 this using my debit card & i already must have past some form of age verification as it clearly states that you must be over 18 years of age before you can be accepted for a pay monthly contract

@RyanM623

I'd suggest you go into your local O2 shop for help.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

Hi @RyanM623 , as it's been a few days since you posted about the adult content lock I just wanted to check if you managed to sort this out in the end? Did you visit a store and were they able to help at all?

I pointed this out on a previous thread about this issue, you have to be over 18 to get credit - but as it was rightly pointed out to me O2 don't know for sure the phone will be used by someone over 18 - the contract could have been taken out for phone to be used by a minor.

I’m sorry but it’s ridiculous! I’m nearly 30 years old myself. I don’t need a credit card go fund my lifestyle, therefore don’t have one! I can’t believe that’s the only option they give! I am in isolation due to being a vulnerable person so can’t just pop to an o2 shop! I’m not in the company of any children for at least 3 months at a time since my cousins children live 4 and a half hours away! I’m fortunate enough to have many likeminded childless friends. o2 should be asking if there are actually children who are at risk of adult content! This is restricting the simplest things for me. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

No it's there to protect children @Missk

IF you had kids I'm sure you wouldn't want them to have free access to adult sites.

Unfortunately due to the global pandemic there is no way you can go to any O2 shop to prove your age.

You don't need a credit card, as a driving licence or passport will do.

Though until the the shops are open, nothing can be done. Annoying but at least it's not life threatening.

Honestly, my cousins children have 3 tablets between the two of them and 2 phones. Their mother is sure to keep up to date with the security and regularly checks that the devices are still safe. She keeps an eye on what they watch too. She can also see from her device what they are seeing. So if you want to protect your children because the device will be used by them, then great! But I should be allowed an option to say that I do not have vulnerable children. I can’t even watch movies. Have to stick to Disney for the next God knows how long. Funny that, because when I called up they would only accept a credit card number. They don’t give you an option for any other proof of age. I actually only know a handful of people who own credit cards, so I don’t see how this helps a majority of their customers. This isn’t about po*n for me. Not all adult content comes down to that single subject. I can’t even buy medication online because I am being restricted. But as long as you’re ok I guess.

@Missk

I'm far from ok. I am in the vulnerable category, self isolating and am a customer like you.

I know what happens with adult content as I have been a member of this forum for 7 years

How do I prove I’m over 18?

There are two ways you can do this. Once you do, we’ll take off the filters and won’t ask again.

  1. Go to one of our shops with photo ID (passport or driving licence).
  2. Prove you have a credit card. We'll charge £1 to the card, which we'll then refund, either through your bill or with calling credit.

You can prove you have a credit card by:

I'm having a similar issue, except I HAVE gone through age verification using the O2 online chat (now currently unavailable due to Covid-19 situation). Apparently you only have to verify age once and they'll never ask again... yet my content lock has been turned back on. I'm 29 ffs! Went through various ID checks to prove as such. Now I'm locked out again, have no credit card, no passport or driving licence and regardlessof if I did, all O2 shops are closed. Yes... I want to watch ******, which is my choice to do so if I wish. I'm a paying customer who has gone through the age verification process already. Why am I being asked to do it again! Its a joke
