Receiving voice mail abroad

You can incur very high charges abroad simply if someone leaves a voice mail that you know nothing about. o2 needs to highlight this as a warning and leave the clear instructions that to turn off voicemail dial 1760 and to re-activate 1750. Better still stop making these charges.

O2 do require you to either call customer services or view the website for information before you travel abroad. Turning voicemail is something that will be advised before you do travel

Hi.

Information is readily available on the 02 website page

It's fair to expect a person to do a little homework themselves before travelling and using their phone and network services whilst abroad.

Regarding the above, the O2 site from

http://www.o2.co.uk/help/bills-and-payment/calling-texting-and-data-usage-abroad#qs

says

Charges for Voicemail when abroad

To retrieve a message

It will cost the same as a call back to the UK.

To receive a message

If an unanswered call is picked up by your voicemail while you're abroad there is no charge on your mobile bill for the message left.

ie there would be NO charge for someone leaving a message on your Voicemail. I understand that there would be a charge for me to PICK UP my Voicemail.
