change account details

I purchased a phone for a friend but want his name and number on this account not mine and need help doing this as I don't have an account with 02 any longer and it is proving a nightmare to change it

The only way you can change it is to cancel the account and have your friend take their own account in their name.
Name swaps aren't allowed anymore.
Best to do it when contract has run full term to avoid cancellation fees.

To my knowledge you wont be able to change an old account to his name..I think you will need to open a new one.?

Just be advised that if you took it out in your name then technically you still have an account with O2!
And you would be liable if your friend were to miss a few payments, or indeed stop paying altogether and would have a diverse affect on your credit rating!
