Hi all,
In early 2024, we were told that anyone who joined after 8th Feb 2024, would not have their mobile plan increased until April 2025.
Considering that O2 has already announced that mobile plan's will be increasing by £1.80 from April 2025, does anyone know what the "join date" for 2025 is, where new plans (taken out after this date) would not have their prices raised until April 2026?
I wish take out another new sim (on my existing account), but I'd rather wait until the "join date" has passed, so the price increases next April.
@Dave-O2 hoping you might be able to help?

At the moment if you join now you will be hit for the rise in April.
The cut off date has varied over the years even to within a couple of weeks of the price rise.
Others with better memories than me will tell you. Last years was particularly early

@SB4092 @Enlli - last year's RPI increase, now no longer a thing with the fixed £1.80 add to airtime (not counting other off-tariff prices that increase every April by 5% now [MMS, etc]!) was 08 February:

1. Each year, your Monthly Subscription Charge will be subject to an annual increase by a fixed amount, this will be shown from your April bill onwards. Full details of your monthly price, including the fixed amount increases, are set out clearly in your contract forms and order confirmation documents. Out of bundle Charges will increase by 5% each year from 1 April. Our Extra Charges guide sets out current pricing information about out of bundle charges and additional services which are not included in your Monthly Subscription Charge. Your inclusive allowances cover mainland calls, texts and data in our Europe Zone, except if you’re on a data-only (Mobile Broadband) tariff, data can only be used in the UK. Special numbers and services (such as premium rate numbers and some 08 numbers) are not included. Please see our Tariff Terms and Website for more details about specific tariffs and Charges outside your allowances.

@pgn The question is about if there is a cut off date for the current year's rise as in the the past, it's not about the nature of the rise
If a customer signs now they get hit in April 25
What is the point when that changes to April 26
Last year that date was in Feb
In the past we used that to dodge the rise

As I took out a SIMO last November for 12months via uSwitch, I am hopeful when the date is released, I can upgrade at 0 penalty to whatever Uswitch offers at that time, otherwise it's £1.80/month add until Oct-25 then back down to whatever is available until Apr-26 rise adds £1.80 again, @Enlli.
If the 85075 reply below is to be believed anyway:
Not unlike O2 to be wrong in such matters, though... 🤷

As mentioned already, last year was early with a February date. Historically, any contracts taken after March 28th were exempt and it was that way for many years.

Whatever happens it is bound to be to the advantage of the great money grabbing machine that is O2.
