No Apple wouldn't cover it in their warranty .It would be classed as the fault of the user....so your own insurance is probably the best bet...

So you don't need to worry. It's not a repair. You need make a claim for Accidental damage.
Simple as. No repairs and long time waiting. If you are insured by O2 insure,all you have to do is call customer services, they will transfer you to O2 insure and you can start your claim.
Edit: They will send you another Iphone ASAP.As fast as 24/48hours.:)

The insurance will arrange to collect the phone and inspect it. A replacement or repair will be done in a couple of days.
