I’m having problems with Apple regarding activation lock o2 provided me a pdf of a proof of purchase there now requesting the original receipt is this a realistic ask I did get the phone around 12 months ago

@CLB- Do you have the receipt? Could you not ask O2 if they have it on record

Apple are notoriously difficult over this type of thing.
Regardless of our opinions on it being reasonable or not, unless you do exactly as they ask, they won't help you 😞

Sad but true Apple are brutal, often wanting original packaging, credit card statements, passports and all sorts of hoop jumping.
This is so people who nick iPhones can't get the activation lock lifted very easily. But does mean if you buy one legitmately you should keep everything, even the plastic wrappings.

If you bought it from o2 it should be available in myo2 .

But what is the issue with activation lock ?

If you forget your Apple ID or otherwise get locked out of your iphone, the activation lock if enabled, prevents access to anything after the phone lock screen. Even if the phone is factory wiped. It is unhackable to all intents and purposes, all you can do is break the phone up for parts.

Only Apple or someone with the correct Apple ID and credentials can disable it and it's why if you are selling or buying a previously used IPhine you have to make sure the activation lock is disabled.  https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201365

Forgotten Apple ID and password 🙈 it’s nat me it’s my daughter, I just wanted to know if it was easy enough to request an original receipt
