Price changes - will discounts be taken into account?

Will price rises, calculated as a percentage increase, be applied to the tariff or the to amount I actually pay?
I pay less because I have been moved over from Virgin where the tariff was less. So that I pay the same, a bolt-on discount has been applied.
Example: tariff is £17, but I pay £10 with a £7 discount.
After a 10% price hike: so new tariff is £18.70.
Will I pay £18.70 - £7 = £11.70? If so that amounts to a 17% increase. Not 10%.
Am I right to be concerned?

Yes it will apply to the tariff cost and your discount will be taken off that.
The price increase this year was 17.3% not 10% anyway.

Good question. AFAIK price rises are on the full tariff, whether this will apply to Virgin discounts it hard to say.

Somy discount will remain the same - for fairness the percentage increase should be applied to that as well as the tariff. Seems extremely unfair.

The price increase is before any discounts are applied so if you have a £7 discount on a £17 tariff (using this years increase will be the following
£17 +17.3% = £19.94
- £7 discount = £12.94 you will pay which is actually if my math is correct an approx. 29.4% increase..
Edited to correct my maths... 3.855x10^6 🤣

I don't think your maths is correct - If I am paying £10 and it goes up to £12.94, that is a 29.4% increase on what I have been paying.

Unfortunately not as everyone gets the same price rise.
If you got discount off both, you'd pay less than other customers on the same tariff.

Trying to do much at once and yes its a 29.4% increase...
You would have to speak to o2 to see if they will cover the theoretical extra £2.94 per monh....

Maybe we should all call O2 asking them to cover our price rises 😂
