Porting number in

Hey guys,

Today is the day for my t-mobile number to port into o2, i'm just wondering if whats happening now is expected behaviour:

My tmobile phone still works and when i use it to call someone it appears to be from my number which is porting to o2.
When i try and call the number which is being ported to o2 i get a 'The number you have dialed has not be recognised'.
My iPhone has 'No Service' and can't connect to the network at all.

Is this normal?! How long does porting usually take?

...with all numbers porting from yesterday". They're "on the o2 network" now from Orange and other providers, but it's still "processing through"

Try this - it's not worked for me yet but it might for some others.

"Settings" "General" "Reset" "Reset Network Settings" You then get the apple, and the spinning clock, and your phone will reset and those who are lucky will get their access.

(It doesn't wipe your data, just your network settings so, like me, you may have to re-input WiFi settings to enjoy the limited usage you currently enjoy from your lovely new iPhone)

The nice helpful lady from CS (once I got through after ten minutes on hold) told me she reckons it'll be a maximum 24 hours more as they work through the backlog of numbers waiting to complete the process, although she admitted they've already passed the 24hrs they promised yesterday. It's their "engineers top priority at the moment", they "know they've annoyed some people", and she will refund me a weeks line rental on my next bill, so I'm glad I called but I still don't have any calling or texting facilities.

I too was meant to port yesterday - I have finally finished talking to them after waiting 17 mins to get through - heres the situation :

The system which supports porting is down - its been raised as a Cat 1 priority but no current closure time - this system connects to their ABS system which ultimately connects to the mediation layer and the cellsites - at the moment they are manually adding numbers onto the ABS application and have ramped up the port team to do this to catch back up. once your number is on the ABS system you should get service as your phone will register with your local cellsite - until then its a sit and wait....... no planned completion time although they potentially quoted me days not hours......

I cannot fault the CS team as they are both being patient with our complaints and understanding enough to talk to the tier 1 and tier 2 support teams for us....

Voda were great but the iPhone is greater.....

The CS person I spoke with did not give me any of this info, so lucky you! And thanks for sharing it.
But I agree, it's not their fault and I guess they are being patient, if ineffective. I'm psyching myself up for a mobile-free weekend circa 1991.

I too have just managed to get through again- only about 5 minutes of "The animals came in two by two"....aaaargh!

The operator I spoke with was well aware of the problem- said that they had not had a system update from the team doing the ports but said he heard that they are confident that they will get it sorted this evening and most likely by 2000.

He said that in the two years he had worked there that he had never before seen such a problem (typical) and that the teams were working to get it finished as a priority.

Fingers crossed then- let's see shall we?

Hope to not be sat here typing to you guys on Monday... or indeed over the weekend, should boredom prevail, although my iPhone makes a nice mini games console!

That's when he goes home, so he knows you can't ring up and scream at him when there's no action!! grin grin

My wifes number was due to be ported over from Virgin Mobile today on to an 02 pay go sim, she has been without service all day on both phones!

I doubt anything will get sorted till Monday now, i bet it's the same for you!!

When she logs in to 02 it shows her 02 temp number but all her creds has gone, all £11 of it. She is already thinking of porting back out once she gets connected. Not a good start at all.

Well i'm shocked!

The 02 sim has just been activated, got £10 on it instead of £11 but all in all it seems to be working.

Edit: incomming calls don't work, but i'm sure they will get there!
