Phone unlocking - Paygo phone on paymonthly

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I liked the Nokia 620 and bought it to use with my pay monthly contract.  I have not used the phone. When I contacted O2 chat to get it unlocked ( for my trips abroad), they say I have to wait for an year and pay £15.

Is this right ? As far as I know,  Paymonthly customers can get it unlocked for free. Isn't it ?

You need to put your contract SIM in the phone and use it, then you get the free unlock. As a PAYG phone it is 1 year and £15.00.

Thank you.

How long I need to use the phone before I can request an unlock code ?  Should I give it enough time to get it registered in the O2 systems.

I submitted the unock request on 22nd March and it's still not done.

Do I need to use the same phone ( put my pay monthly sim)  while the unlock request is processed ?

Two days back when I checked with a Customer care agent. It said it is not processed and he will escalate it.

Now, I have my Nokia 620 with my pay monthly sim on it. Shall I contact Web chat again and raise another request ?

Do not use web chat. They have a very bad track record for resolving problems, and are generally useless. Call Customer Services on 202 from your mobile. It's a free call.

Yea,  I could see that.  Only problem with call is that I need to hold for so long.
