Today ihad a phone call from 02. They offered to reduce my monthly charge at NO COST TO ME and for being a LOYAL customer.
Next thing i know, ihv purchased a £1700 iphone , and acquired a new contract! Absolutely nothing was discussed, let alone agreed. Icalled 02, i was told it was too late to cancel as the phone had bn dispatched. I was advised to cancel my direct debit. I enquired how could this happen, the advisor said must be a scam! So why isit in my accou t. She said she doesn't know.
Since then I've tried many calles with no result. I can definitely confirm that no purchase or discussion took place about replacing my existing phone, or a new contract or a new phone.
Im Absolutely disgusted and distressed.
I'm old but i hv NOT lost my marbles ! I KNOW what was said and discussed. If phones calls are recoded, i challenge them to do so.

YOU gave the scammers access to your account when YOU gave them the OTP that you are told NOT to share with anyone (even o2), and they scammers are only interested in getting the phone, they dont give a hoot about anything else...
So basically you end up paying o2 for a phone you dont have and a tariff you dont want ...
And to be fair as I have said o2 can find you liable as you willingly passed over access to your account..
Sorry if that sounds harsh but that is the reality of the situation.

I doubt very much it was O2; they do not call. I suspect you are the victim of a scam call

It wasn't O2 that called you and it was certainly a scam.
Phishing, Smishing & Scams. Latest info & advice.
You need to get O2 to pass it on to fraud and report it to Action Fraud.

@Madaboutplants There are some scams where during a cold call, all you have to do is say the word 'yes' and you've been had. It's why we always advise to not answer or speak to cold callers.
If you think you’ve been the victim of fraud – whether it’s because you’ve given details to someone over the phone, or clicked on a link in a suspicious text or email there are things you can do:
Contact your bank if you think you may have given out financial information. They can help protect your account and stop transactions.
Change your account and online account passwords. Not just your O2 account. All of them.
Forward fraudulent texts to O2 for free on 7726.
Contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
Call your Virgin Media or O2 customer services number if you think somebody’s taken out a contract using your details.
Virgin Media customers can phone 150 from their landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.
O2 customers can call 202 from their O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone.
You can block the number that called you, or any number you think may be suspicious.

But its now on my 02 account. 02 confirmed that there's aphone and monthly payment registered on their account. I can see it on my 02app. The advisor on the phone also confirmed its there. She said she couldn't cancell the dispatch as she couldn't get hold of the courier. I asked what advantages are there for a scammer to put this on my 02account. She said she had no idea.
Just doesn't make sense.
I've reported to 02 fraud , for reply saying they will answer within 30days!

That's just a standard response whilst they investigate it @Madaboutplants
If the order cannot be stopped you should take delivery and return it to O2 yourself.
Do not return it anywhere else and do not allow a courier to collect it from you as this is how the scammer gets the device.
They will probably call you asking you to return it to them at a false O2 address.
Call O2 yourself and only return it to the address they give you.
