If this is a replacement sim you will need to contact customer service to have it activated.

Try live chat or call from a landline.

You can also cancel the insurance by speaking to customer service.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

If this is a new contract then yes the sim does need activating. You will need to give a month's notice to cancel the insurance so ask customer service to do that straight away. If you speak to them they may well refund the insurance if it was added without your consent.

@fedup12if you wish to leave, you will still be liable for the remainder of your contract costs

Far easier to get your sim activated as explained above...

@fedup12 Please follow the advice above. If the new sim isn't working, it's either faulty or you haven't activated it. It can be resolved easily. It is not a valid reason for getting out of your contract.

If your contract ends in October, it means that you have had insurance for the last 18 months. Did no one ask you if you wanted the insurance when you took out the contract? Have you only just noticed you've been paying for it after all this time?
