Phone Calls from 07568 numbers

Hi

This is a strange one, I wonder if anyone has experienced similar. I have received a number of missed phone calls today from numbers starting with 07568 (02 phone number prefix). When I have attempted to call these numbers back I got the number not recognised message.

All of the numbers are the same other than the last 3 digits.

I attempted to re call all the numbers and again they wouldn’t connect apart from one number. A lady answered and stated she hadn’t called me despite there being a missed phone call from her number on my handset only a few hours earlier.

Can anyone explain ?

Spam callers often imitate other numbers to get you to answer.
When you then try and call back, as you found, you can get through to an unknown person who hasn't called you.

@EvertonPaul To add to the advice given to you by @gmarkj, my policy is to never answer a number if it isn't in my contacts and that I don't recognise. I always let those calls go to voicemail. If it turns out that it's a bona fide call, 99.9% of the time they will leave a message. If they don't leave a message, I consider it a spam call and block the number.
