Paying Off Contract Early

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, and I wanted to ask a question about paying off my contract early.

I have 5 months left of my 24 month contract. I was wondering, the amount I pay off on the remaining 5 months, what should this amount include? Is it just the monthly charge (x5) or will the blackberry monthly bolton and monthly phone insurance be included too in the calculating of how much I need to pay, to pay off contract early?

Yes the insurance will be knocked off too. I don't think there is anything you can do about the VAT aspect other than have a moan slight_smile

Might be better not arguing about the VAT, might get me in O2's little blackbook if I did complain.

Regarding the VAT, are we talking about the VAT they add onto your standard monthly charge?

Thanks,

Liam.

Yes, your line rental includes a charge for VAT as it's classes as a "service". Its £10 on a £50 bill, so if it was me I'd at least be asking the question. My logic is that as you are paying off early you are not using the "service"....
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I doubt O2 will do that, but let us know how you get on.

Hi,

Well I done it! I can pay off my existing O2 contract and start a new contract with O2. Thank you to O2!

I chatted to 2 wonderful chat advisors named Kelvin & Lily, Kelvin was very helpful in explaining it to me, he told me I could do it! He gave me a termination fee which was calculated by the remaining months left on my contract. I confirm to him, that this was the only charge I would be charged, and he said 'Yes'. Kelvin then advised me to chat to a sales advisor which he then kindly transferred our chat to a sales advisor named Lily.

Lily was very helpful too! She advised me that it would be better to start a new contract with a new phone and tariff before cancelling the existing one. Once I had my new phone, my contract would start. I then call O2 on 202 or use the online chat and let them know I have my new phone and then they would transfer my existing mobile number over to my new contract. She advised me as what to do whilst I was doing my order too, and kept the chat window open all the time I was doing my new order. Once all had been done, she said to let her know my order number and she would check to confirm my order went through.

And my new order is confirmed and I have even requested it be delivered to my local O2 store for me to collect rather it being delivered to my home address. A Bonus.

I am now looking forward to a gleaming iPhone 5 16GB in Black/Slate.

Liam. slight_smile
