PAYG first top up - Voucher? I never knew that!

Anonymous

I've just been told I've wasted ages trying to top up a new PAYG SIM for the first time. Online don't work, by phone don't work. Then I'm told the first top up needs to be done by voucher.

Not once does it say anywhere that this is necessary anywhere on the information I was given with the SIM.

Thanks O2 for wasting so much of my time. Rubbish!

Hi there

Can you please ring 4444, try to top up, after the 3rd failed attempt your call will be transferred to pay and go customer services.

They will be able to see your attempts and from the error report know what the problem is. If for some reason it is your Bank stopping it they can also send it to be investigated.

rosadosc is right.

After making a call using 202 it seems likely, although they can't be sure, that it's a security problem with my bank declining the top up process.

The answer is, you guessed it, to go to a shop and buy a voucher!

Thanks to all for your advice.
