I am a light user of mobile phone and need an open contract whereby the amount of credit on the payg sim remains until used up. e.g. Not cancelled at the end of 30 days. Do o2 offer this type of contract? Also do o2 offer automatic top up by bank d/d?

Yes you need the Big Talker tariff - the creidt remains on the account until  used, also if you top up every 30 days you do get free o2 to o2 minutes and texts and a bit of data depending on how much you top up and yes you can set up a regular auto top up.
