Why is it so hard to actually talk to someone about my phone overheating?

You'd be better off talking to your device manufacturer.

O2 customer service aren't trained to fix phone faults.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Probably a rogue app such as Facebook

A factory reset might be an option before sending the phone for repair
