Technically, the calls are not free.
They are included in your allowances, however, so if you have unlimited mins it won't cost you.
If you only have 100/300/500 mins of calls and you have exceeded them the call will cost 45p per minute.

All o2 calls are included in your call allowance but outside of allowances it is 45p a min.

Worth a mention that you get free calls from your O2 mobile in the UK if phoning someone with an O2 mobile who is abroad. I travel to Spain frequently.....a lot of my family members are on O2 and if they phone me whilst I am in Spain, it costs them nothing.

Correct, but unless you are using tugo the receiver will pay a 50p connection charge for an hour.

I realise that Rich, that's why I emphasised folk calling from the UK to an O2 mobile abroad. I have to say my family (in the UK) were amazed the first time they rang and the words 'free call' clicked on. They checked immediately to make sure they hadn't been charged

It's always free to call a UK number from the UK no matter where it is.
Anyway, we have wandered slightly as no mention of either phones abroad in op.

My mum's phone is on O2 PAYG

Please can you clarify that If I ring my mum on her mobile its going to cost me nothing ie not come out of my monthly allowances

(sorry but atm my concentration is very limited & whilst I appreciate the blue link, which I have bookmarked, I can't take all that information in)

Thank you Cat

The calls will be free Jane wink

I am on an O2 monthly contract... my son is on O2 PAYG , his partner is on O2 contract. We ring each other without incurring any cost. (Unless we have used up all of our call minutes allowance)
