O2 selling my information to telephone marketers

Anonymous
Not applicable

Just got a new mobile number with 02, and low and behold, I am now receiving nuisance marketing calls on this number.

How could a marketing company possibly have associated my name with this phone number any other way than 02 selling my personal information?

Is there a way I can prevent O2 from using my personal information in such a way, or should I just cancel my service?

Hi @Anonymous

You can go into My O2 and look at marketing preferences. You can tick to receive nothing.

I don't get any on my phone

In the meantime you can block all marketing/spam numbers through your phone settings. It is a bit soon for them to start coming in though....:smileysad:

I had them in the past but it must be 2 years since I received ppi or accident spam although I did change my preferences before then. Don't forget though that your number is not only on o2's data base but all their 'trusted' partners.

HI @Anonymous,

Sorry to hear about this and do take members' advice here and look at your preferences (well done guys)

How long after you set up a new number did you receive spam calls?

I cannot find the marketing option in my preferences. Can you specifically tell me where it is?

Edit: I found it. It was set to receive info as well as third party. Hopefully now that I have changed it I will cease to receive these calls.

Thanks for your help.
