O2 refresh to get a tablet and keep phone

Hi all.

I have a question which I'm sure has been asked before but can't seem to find a definate answer.

I'm happy with my mobile which has 6 months left to run on it's contract but been shopping lately for an iPad.

Then i thought about putting the 2 thoughts together. So could I pay the £120 to 'refresh' my contract and pick a tablet instead but continue using my mobile on its current mobile number?

The only thing that maybe complicated is the cost, i doubt I'll need a data plan on the tablet as it won't leave the house so don't need seperate data for it but all the tablet plans include data which i pay for on the phone side.

Basically wouldn't mind paying per month what I pay now but want a new tablet instead of a new phone.

Im not sure you can select a mobile tariff when buying a tablet. Plus, can pick up tablets cheaper via amazon, tesco etc. What tablet were you thinking about. O2 don't have a great selection.

You can get an ipad on Refresh by paying off your current device but you would have to select a tariff and then use the sim in your mobile. The tariffs aren't cheap though so it depends on what you are paying now.

Hi @Anonymous You can buy a tablet with a refresh tariff....You would need to pay off your current device plan

O2 have some really good deals which include 10Gb of data if you require it...Tablets here

https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/tablets/#sort=content.sorting.featured

Tariffs here (I have shown the Sony Xperia 4 tablet as an example)

OP wants an iPad wink

I know that....but I prefer the Z4 so linked to that purely for tariff purposes...:smileywink:

All the tablets are listed on my first link....with the iPad shown first...so they can browse quite happily...looking at others en route...

My current tariff is unlimited mins and texts with 5GB data at £23p/m (plus £20p/m for phone) I know ipads are cheaper on amazon etc but it's the up front cost I don't have.
So was hoping to replace the £20p/m for my phone, maybe even a bit cheaper if I didn't get the latest tablet.

As for suggesting other tablets, I'm not actually an apple fan and would never get an iphone. But I want a tablet and apple has some apps that are exclusive to them and there's also some apps no longer available but I can download from my history. (I had an iphone when there was no smartphone competition)

You won't get any calls in a tablet refresh so any calls you make will be at full rate if it's even possible to make a call off an o2 tablet sim, which I doubt.
You would be better off with a tablet refresh and a simo for your phone once you've paid it off.

They won't refresh from a mobile to a tablet, as the tablet is a mobile broadband contract and not a calls package they will make you get a new connection.
I tried with one of my lines last year and had to get new line.

That's a shame. I don't see why there isn't an option to keep my mobile tariff and pay monthly for a tablet instead of a phone.
