I have been a pay monthly sim only customer for around 4 years now.. ..  A few days ago i took out a package with Virgin Media that  gave me a new 02 unlimited sim.. My idea was ,because i am already an o2 customer, and will STILL be another 02 customer, as the Virgin deal contract is directly with o2, my idea was that the previous pay monthly could be swapped just for the new contract but i was told it would cost me over £400 to end that pay monthly contract...  Id understand that if i was switching to a rival network, but i now have two o2 sims with essentially two o2 contracts and two amounts to pay directly to o2 each month...  Is there anyway around this or am i stuck paying out for the two every month???   one idea i had was to "upgrade" to a lower price per month, and then it would cost less to cancel, but it still seems rather a long way of doing things.

Typical Virgin hard sell @SotonSteve so it sounds like you're stuck with it unfortunately.

If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they may be able to suggest something for you.

@SotonSteve

There's no need to take another sim to get volt benefits, you would have got them with your first sim.

If within 14 days just cancel the new sim and stay with your old one. You can always upgrade that to unlimited when you have reached the minimum term on it.

In addition, if you've had the same simo for 4 years, there should be nothing to pay to cancel it either.

hey thanks for the reply.. the new unlimited sim was part of the deal.. 1gig internet.. 2 tv boxes with movies and sports... plus unlimited 02 sim..  i asked the Virgin agent what would happen if i cancel the 02 sim and he said it would affect the whole package and i might end up paying full price for the package and just suggested i keep the sim as backup..  it just seems mad that considering both sims are with o2 they would charge a full price to exit the pay monthly deal..    over the four years ive renewed i think twice to better data deals so each time its in a new X amount contract that why i would need to pay the £400..
