We decided to change to o2 as my daughter is studying in australia for 5 months. She can use her data but cannot make or receive phone calls. I have contacted o2 but after their advice of taking sim in and out calls are still not working. Can you tell me how to get her phone working, concerned as really needs this service so far away on her own from home. She has an iPhone 15

She will need to have 4G Calling (VoLTE) enabled on her phone.
Also she needs to try different networks.
The rules have changed in Australia

Also, as she is there for 5 months be aware the roaming terms and conditions have changed
We're extending our permanent roaming fair usage policy, that we already have for Europe Zone, to include Rest of World roaming. Using the service for more than 63 days in a four-month period is considered unfair use. If this happens, you'll receive a notification via text, and continued overuse will result in surcharges.
These surcharges are £3.50 per GB for data, 3.3p per minute for calls and 1p per text. The surcharges will appear on your next month’s bill. We’ll stop applying surcharges to your inclusive roaming usage once the majority of your usage over the previous four months has been in the UK.

Hi thanks for reply, disappointing to hear roaming won't last for 5 months. I had spoken to o2 a few times and was informed she would be able to use her phone in australia for the full 5 months the same as she would in the UK. If I knew the problems she would have I would not have moved to o2. Really wish I had known this before as we are now tied to a contract and worried my daughter won't be able to make phone calls or eventually even use WhatsApp to call if roaming off. On checking her iphone 15 it should work in Australia. Really at a loss as what to try next.

As advised. Manually connect to Vodafone and make sure 4g calling is enabled.
Lots on here about roaming in Australia if you use the search function to find it.

I've seen numerous posts on EE and Vodafone forums so the problem is not confined to O2
Surely she will be able to use public wifi to keep in touch. WhatsApp does not require you to be connected to a phone network as long as there is data it works
It may be worth investing in an Australian PAYG SIM

I would look at reddit as that seems to have a lot of good advice..
This is a useful thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Honor/comments/1gerdve/has_anyone_in_australia_had_their_honor_phone/
