O2 account details

Anonymous
Not applicable
I am mortified to log in to my o2 account to see details of someone else's account details, sort code and account number visible set up as my direct debit has anyone ever come across this. I have raised a complaint but worried that I can see details of someone else like that who else's details are out there being used. The only reason that this has come to my attention is because I am a new customer and was having problems logging into my o2 app because it said my card details didn't match so I contacted an online chat advisor who got me logged in for me to then check my details and found this.

Does everything else match up i.e. your name and address, contract deails and phone type?

I'm wondering if the chat adviser has logged you into the wrong account?

Everything else's matches he sent me a reset password text for me to log in which I did. Horrified to see that it's not my bank details and my bill date was the 15th but the money has not gone from my account because it's obviously gone out of the poor persons account that is stated on my account which makes me Horrified.

That's a serious breach of the DPA then if that's the case. Personally I would call first thing in the morning. Please don't use chat for this. As you have already made a complaint it would be interesting how they explain this.

@Anonymous You certainly need to ring customer services first thing. They open at 8am. As you say if you are seeing some other account then you can only wonder if your details are on display to someone else. A very serious breach has occurred here. I know you say you have made a complaint but this needs to be addressed as soon as possible http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

I have been sat here reading this thread open-mouthed. Is it any wonder why we never advise people to use Live Chat? Instead of the situation getting better, it's clearly getting worse. This is a serious breach of security. Hopefully the OP has notified customer service first thing this morning, but I will mention @Toby here, to make him aware of this thread as well.

So a Live Chat operative allowed a person access to an account knowing that the person was experiencing log in problems but appears not to have verified, by a security procedure, that the person had any right to access that account.
I imagine the ICO would be fascinated by O2's explanation of that.
