I’m in France, I’ve just called O2 and spoken (for 20 mins at what cost I do not know) to an ignoramus who prefers to talk over people than actually listen to what they want. I have explained the message from O2 regarding O2 Travel how it states 50p connection then that call is free for up to one hour and how it is slightly unclear if that still stands when you choose not to use the data part of the deal. He eventually insisted the message is incorrect and tells me while I am in France that I am charged 50p connection then 25p / min to call UK. The info on the O2 website also clearly states 50p connection then that call is free for up to one hour but does not mention if that is only if I am paying £2 / day for the data part of the deal.
All I wanted to know is as the O2 travel deal is £2 for 15mb of data and I am not using data do I still get a 59 minute call for 50p and/or will I still be charged £2 per day on top of that if I am not using data?
They obviously don’t know what they’re selling at O2 so can anyone answer this?
I know it’s all a rip off… I just want to know how much I’m being ripped off for.
Cheers

Sorry for opening up this issue again but I am slightly confused by the information on the site. So the page https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/international/using-phone-in-europe only refers to the use of data and makes no mention of rates for calling and texting. Where did you guys see that the rate for calling UK was 50p connection fee and then free for 1 hour? And what are the rates for calling other countries e.g. if I am in France and want to call a French number, what rate would I be charged if I have this O2 Travel?
And finally does O2 travel work both on Pay and Go as well as Pay Monthly? I am asking because I only have Pay and GO.
Many thanks in advance

And just to clarify I have seen the European rates if you don't have O2 travel:
O2 European rates
If you don't want O2 Travel, you can choose to pay our European rates by simply calling 2202 from your mobile.
Charges:
So if I opt into O2 travel are the rest of the rates the same and the only difference is that data moves from 46p/MB to 2 pounds per day for up to 15MB if I use it and 0 otherwise. Or do the other rates for calling and texting etc change too

Thanks for your reply but I don't think you have still addressed by fundamental question which is:
If as anPay and Go customer, I opt into O2 travel, will I get standard European rates for calling/texting and the only difference (as compared to not opting into O2 travel) is that data moves from 46p/MB to 2 pounds per day for up to 15MB when I use it?
Or do the other rates for calling and texting etc change too when I opt into O2 travel.

Basically I would be quite happy if I got standard European rates for calling/texting as a Pay and Go customer, and on top of that my data was such that I got charged an extra 2 pounds per day when I used data and that data was upto max 15 MB.
I hope that is what happens when I opt into O2 travel as a Pay and Go customer but I want confirmation on that
