O2 Refresh (Fast Track Upgrade)

Hi,

I'm currently on my 22nd month of a 24 month contract (Oct 2011 - Oct 2013) and have been looking to end my current PayM contract in order to take up the Refresh contract.

Currently my phone is an iPhone 3GS 8GB Black and I've been looking to go for a 4S 16GB Black (since its still supported by Apple but still modestly cheap to run.)

My understanding of the Fast Track upgrade system is you pay a "sum" and O2 chip in a little, read: 25%. (http://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/rewards/speed-to-refresh Item 2a)

According to O2 the system works by taking your cost and multiplying it by the number of months left and then removing 25% of the cost, the result being the sum you pay.

My current costs are £15.99 line rental
So with 2 months left, this is multiplied by 2 to total £31.98.
25% of £31.98 is £7.99 (rounded up).

£31.98 - £7.99 = £23.99.

O2 say I would be paying £24.00, so in effect I would be paying off my contract would I not?

But since I have a £6 bolt on, (therefore taking my costs to £21.99) by applying the same method above, I come up £8.99 short of paying off the contract.

My question is, when O2 advertise this method of changing contracts, is it based on the line rental alone or the bolt-on too?

Really?

Thats brilliant.

Thanks Adam, I've been busy working out the numbers so I can get it all signed without being stung for something. (I hate it when a company tries to slip something on you).

Looking at my updated figures this is within my grasp. I'm going to sort it out tomorrow.

Thanks again. +Kudo's!

I don't know why you think that would happen?

All the details about O2 Refresh are here so that need not happen to you:

What I'd really like to know however is how the bill looks on the first page with the total figure for the month. Is it itemised on the front page with outstanding balance of the phone cost as well as the monthly charge etc, if not the first page, which page does it show how much I owe for the phone? Would anyone have a sample perhaps? Thanks.
