Hi everyone.
Just had two emails from 02, about airtime plan price increase:
We wanted to give you a heads up about a change we’re making to some of our airtime plans, so you can be prepared ahead of time.
From April 2026, your airtime plan will now be increasing by £2.50 instead of £1.80. The cost of your device plan will remain the same. Data Only and Smartwatch Plans will remain the same at 75p.
Why are 02 doing this?
I'm on part-time hours, and earlier I this year changed my plan on both my phone and tablet to a lower price plan whilst staying on Unlimited Data, Texts and Calls. I was told that the increase in April 2026 would be £1.80. This increase of 70p means I'll soon be back up to (and over) my original data plan price, which means I'll be having to make a difficult decision. Stay on O2 but only have my phone, or switch to another provider (which is an issue as my workplace uses O2 in order to let us use our phones if the normal system goes down).
On the news ofcom are slamming O2 for ignoring the new rules set up in January this year concerning price rises for each service provider. Yet O2 are saying they're not doing anything wrong.

Technically o2 are not doing anything wrong and are working to the rules set by an anti consumer ombudsman, who could have banned mid contract price rises but didn't...
Morally they are taking the mick, and just putting it up for the sake of it, profits are up.
The others are on there way with their price increases, and they will all do the same...

They're also saying the price rise is needed to help improve the service.
Have they forgotten that's still a cost of living crisis!!
