So i have recently moved from Vodafone to O2.

I have used my iPhone X with the O2 sim for over a month now and i have the following findings.

  • At home signals are not satisfactory; i get about 2 bars. Calls have dropped when using the phone inside the property. I have to go outside to make a phone call.
  • Outside within a mile radius of my property i get 2 bars; further on i get full 4 bars and no issues with the phone calls.
  • Inside the house, outside and in major city centers like Liverpool and Manchester, i have been doing mobile data test during my visits. I have not recieved anything more than 0.5MB/s Download and 0.3MB/s on Upload (source is Speed Test App). I have experienced the same issue in Chester, Elesmere Port and Warrington.

Anyone else in abovementioned areas having the same issues?

@Hanz

I've reported the same issues around the Liverpool area for years.

I stay in L1 and work in L24 and it's just as bad in both places and everywhere in between.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@Hanz You can check your coverage and report network issues here: O2 | Service Status

If you were getting a good signal and coverage from Vodafone and moved to O2 because you were getting a better deal on your contract, you made the wrong choice.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

O2 is as bad as Vodafone. At least Vodafone customer service was better (lol).

I have reported the signal issue quite a few times at Service Status. I get a generalised response that there is no issue in the area that I point out. If I am still getting an issue; contact O2. When I did, they had put me into this infinite loop of changing settings on phone etc. Its easier to blame the phone rather than the service I guess for them.

I am still on O2 relying heavily on wifi calls. Just means that I have to lock myself in the house, which is not too bad in the current lockdown.

Will go back to Vodafone after this contract ends.
