Numbers covered by free minutes allowance

I note that we are going to be charged for certain numbers in July this year, but I cannot seem to find what the situation is regarding which numbers are counted as part of my unlimited minutes allowance right now.

For example, is an 0845 number free to call from my S5 when I have unlimited calls and texts on my tariff?

Thank you for your time and attention to my query.

Given that Adam hasn't been on here for some time I do wonder if the link is it of date?

The info about December 2015 was only a few weeks ago that I read it. ..

ALL this info was given to me this morning Nick...

Absolutely @Bambino which is why the EU regulated about 0800 numbers.

Sadly 084 and 087 weren't at the party

The bit I didn't understand though was why financial companies were exempted.

I note most banks have now added 03 numbers as an option.

And Sky, the devil to many, now uses an 03 number. .....now there is progress

All companies whether financial or utility should be forced to stop using 084 and 087 numbers. I'm with @Bambino on this, we pay more than enough to these companies and contribute to the vast profits going into the fat directors' and shareholders' pockets.

I only ever use the overseas numbers they provide, why should I be penalised for calling from the comfort of my home rather than lazing on a beach in some far flung place? Makes no sense and these companies have no idea where you are calling from using a mobile.

Totally agree @jonsie. In fact I go one step further. If the only number I can find to contact a company is not an 01, 02, 03, 0500, 0800 or 0808 number then they don't want my business.

End of. I walk away

My thoughts too, I simply refuse to call these numbers full stop.

That article is dated 13 December 2013, and according to what it says, companies using 084 or 087 numbers can charge up to 41p per minute. That's theft, in my book.
