Number porting query

I requested for my number to port over from EE to o2. Is it normal for both sims to be active on the day?

I can currently make call and send messges from my o2 sim (iPhone 12) and it shows as my number but if someone calls or messages me it still goes through to my EE sim/phone (Samsung Galaxy S10). My EE sim/phone is also still able to make calls and messages and has 4g data.

Is this to be expected and if there anything I need to do? I've currently got both my phone switched off just in case that helps. I've not ported my number in years so not entirely clear on what the process is now!

@dwg

Your EE sim should turn off first for the porting process to begin.

Turning off and on both phones may help the process.

If you still have both sims working by around 4.00pm you should contact O2.

All numbers are in this guide Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support
When you call, you will be asked for the reason you are calling.
Stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
You can also try saying "Upgrade" or "Fraud" to be connected to an advisor.
8.00am is the best time to call if you can.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
