My contract (well, one of them, I have 4) with O2 runs out on 26th Nov.
I usually get my new phones through Mobilephonesdirect on/around Black Friday. I may well stay with O2 - but it's not 100%.
If I was to leave O2 then, I'd have to give my notice with them and pay for the next month - when I'd also have another phone too. Would I be best giving my notice 30 days (ish) before the 26th Nov? That way, if I leave, I'll have given my notice already so won't pay an extra month? Do I apply for a PAC code at the same point?
What happens with O2 after the 30 days? Is it disconnected? Can it be switched to PAYG at that point?
If I did nothing and then took out a new contract - but still with O2, would that all be OK? How would it work with keeping my number?
I'm basically trying to minimise costs and possible overlap.

No need to give notice.
You just pay up to the end of contract or for any additional days after that.

Thanks for that.
Just to clarify then, once I'm beyond my Contract date, I can cancel 'with immediate effect' and just pay for the days I've used it? Which, would actually be a refund I assume as we pay in advance?
NOTE: My contract wasn't taken out directly with O2 - so I don't think it becomes cheaper afterwards (device/'line' cost split). I assume that doesn't make a difference?

Assumptions are correct.

Why am I being asked for a PAC code if I select I am staying with O2 and want to keep my number? The PAC option only appears when I select 'Keep my current number'. I though a PAC was only required when switching networks? I appreciate I can get one easily enough. As I'm not into the last 30 days yet will I have to pay extra?
(I put in the fake phone number to take the screenshot, it's the same with my real one)

You don't need a PAC.
See the guide I posted above about migrating your number.

Hi, yes, I've checked the guide - but, in my screenshot, after selecting I'm already with O2 and want to keep my number - the mandatory field appears for me to input my PAC. I don't know why, given I've told it I'm already with O2.

Is it on the MPD website?
If so, I suggest you speak to them and ask why.
